Douglas Barnhart Doug Barnhart is chief executive officer of Barnhart, Inc., a San Diego-based full service general building and engineering, and construction management company. Mr. Barnhart’s company, www.debinc.com/ has a yearly sales volume in excess of $230 million. The company has been ranked as the largest privately owned commercial building firm in San Diego County by the San Diego Business Journal and 15th largest educational builder in the nation. Prior to founding the company in 1983, he served as a Navy Civil Engineer Corps Officer, responsible for U.S. Government administration of construction contracts and public works administration at major Navy shore installations. He was also a vice president for a major Southern California contractor. Mr. Barnhart was a Governor's appointee and past chairman of the California Contractor's State License Board. He is a board member of the San Diego National Bank, the treasurer of the San Diego International Sports Council, and past chairman of the Qualcomm Stadium Board. He served as co-chair of the San Diego Super Bowl Host Committee. Mr. Barnhart is also chairman of the Construction Apprenticeship Trust for the San Diego Associated General Contractors (AGC), and the secretary of the AGC Construction Pension Trust. He served as president of the San Diego AGC and is a national board member for AGC. The Barnhart, Inc. has received two Build America Awards, five Build San Diego Awards, a DBIA Merit Award, numerous Best of the West Awards, the United Way Community Service Award, Best Family -Owned Business Award and numerous other awards and honors. Mr. Barnhart earned his B.S. in Civil Engineering from Texas Tech University in Lubbock, Texas.
